| Harry Ousey was born in 1915. He lived
in Hayfield in the Peak District, moving to Cornwall in 1950. Although loosely
associated with the Saint Ives Group, Harry was an independently-minded artist.
His best known paintings are lyrical responses to the rhythms, colours and
forms of the land, sea and sky. He found success in the 1960s, but later disillusioned
with the art scene, he moved to France, where he lived with his wife, Susie,
until his death in 1985. His ashes are scattered beneath a tree on Mont
Sainte Victoire. His work may be found in many public and private collections,
the largest group of which may be seen at Falmouth Art Gallery in Cornwall. www.harryousey.com |
